Well last Sunday I installed 275's in my truck with the help of some fellow TDR members in Denver (thanks guys!) Not only has the power increase been fun to play with my mileage is definetely on the way up. For the past 20k miles I have averaged 17. 013 mostly all interstate miles. Ran my first tank thru the ole 275's enjoying the extra power every mile and got 19. 31 with just winter fuel. :--) Mind you I didnt baby this thing and played with the new injectors quite a bit. BTW, this was all calculate manually, not by the trip computer! Cant wait to drop another 20k miles on er with the 275's to see what kind of average I see across the board.

Sounds great :) when I did the 275's they gained me 1 mpg, not bad at all, now with 40k on the truck and all synthetics I get 18. 5-19 on winter fuel and on ol #2 I get between 20 and 21 when empty, this is great considering that I weigh slightly over 9K, I have added 2 heavy duty bumpers and an auxillary tank/toolbox loaded up.

:) Kevin :)

Hey jrandol

Tell me more... Is this your only modification, If so why injectors first? how different from a dead stop... more smoke? a lot, a little? louder?

Thanks JJ

Hey Whitmore, I've been meaning to ask you, what does

* If I tell you that a chicken can pull a bail of hay... . Hook him up *

mean anyway? It could go one of two ways in my mind.

:D

Her are the results of my 275"s.

Motor idles a little quieter

has a bit more power but not a bunch

milage increase of about 1 mpg

No gain in EGT's

In my oppinion the addition of 275's is the best thing you can do to get an increase in milage.

jjohn, that phrase comes from the real world of a Wyoming chicken that can pull a bail of hay... ... ... ... ... .come on up and I will show ya ;)

My truck is bone stock except for the 275's and a real long glasspack in lieu of the stock muffler and resonator. (Straight pipe drone was driving me insane!) Started with injectors cuz I got a real good deal on these and some recommendations were made in that direction. ALso still trying to decide what box to go with. Will keep you in the loop on my next couple tanks and mileage. Gotta say I am still having some fun with the power difference so it probably wont increase anymore until I take my foot out of it. I reall think I could muster 20 mpg average out of it if I dont launch hard.

No difference in smoke and maybe a c-h quieter than before.

Thanks for the 275 info... But...

I guess I'll have to make the journey because I still don't know what to think of this Wyoming Chicken Hay bail stuff!!

Kevin, I think you've finally lost your marbles:eek:

Did someone mention Beer?

More boost will be really good. No gauges yet but any idea what kind of boost at best I might be seeing now?

Trying to fiquire out the difference between my HY-35 and the HX-35

How much time is involved in installing 275 injectors? Also should the stock ones be re-installed for a trip to the dealer?

Jrandol:

If you disable the wastegate without a boost fooler alone or incorporated in a box you will set an overboost code. I think stock is set to 20psi +-. Also if I remember correctly the 275's can get you up to the 25ish range as mentioned before. And that the auto hy35 is good to around 29-30 before it starts to get beyond its effiency map. Add the fueling box and you are going to be pushing the limit of the hy and an hx35 may be in order particularily if your are going to go with a comp or equivalent. You may want to decide where else you want to go if you are going to end up putting in some stage 3's like Mike did Sunday the hx40 may be the ticket in the end. To disable the wastegate on that hy with the hardlined wastegate you will need to use the spring/turnbuckle, just a turnbuckle, 22shell, turbomaster adjustable or I think someone (edge maybe) makes a more high tech version of the 22 shell method. I think you mentioned the transmission upgrade in the near future which is good because you will probably need it when you add a fueling box. Hope to see you at either or both of the dyno days coming up next month.

Well, it should only be maybe an 1 1/2 hour to 2 hour job. I think mine was a little longer but still tolerable. I will tell you this is kinda difficult with a 4 x4, you are up there pretty high. But in the end definetely worth it! If I need to take my truck in I am not replacing them for the stock ones. Same part # as stock, only way they know they arent stock is if they pull them out and flow rate them. Dont know of any dealership really interested in dong that.

Jeff

Are you sure they are the same part number as stock??? If I remember correctly, when I installed them in my truck, the last two digits were different. That was a year ago, so I may be rusty. I still don't see a dealer taking them out to check though...

Glad you like the injectors!!!

Well any diesel tech that drives these trucks on a regular basis will notice the increased power, but most of us play with our trucks too and dont care. You won't need increased boost with just 275's. The other techs in my shop have driven some of my enhancd rigs and have been shocked how the Cummins can run.

Bob

Wow jrandol!! This sounds pretty good, especially with diesel prices rising. I may have to look into these and either remove my EZ or put it on the lowest setting in an effort to make the ol' auto last as long as possible.

What is the general thought on this? Will my auto survive with 275's and the EZ on the lowest setting or should I just remove it if I change injectors. I have a long drive to work every day and would like to short the oil companies as much as possible.

Paying $2. 00 for diesel fuel is ridiculous!!!:mad: :mad: :mad: :{
