1. How long should the engine spin over before it starts? Mine takes about 8-10 seconds before it starts.

2. Is there a relay that tells the intake heat grid to come on? My 95 had a relay I had to change out to cycle the heat grid.

Thanks,

My 93 starts almost instantly after wait light goes out in near zero without block heater. My isuzu diesels started about the same except when really cold, took about 5 seconds. If the glow plugs weren't working I had to tow when cold to start.

There should be a relay because of how much power it takes. I haven't had mine long enough to tell. When mine cycles, the lights dim and go bright and the gauge fluctuates, too. The same thing happens to a 2002 a friend got.

Also, check the wire going to the solenoid on the pump. Mine was loose and causing problems. See the post by these about "cutting out... "
