I just thought that this time each year we have a thread dedicated to our dear diesel brother who passed December 7th 2003. Nowel Thomas will be remember by us all who knew him and those of you who never got to meet him and be graced by his mild tempered, soft spoken nature. He will always be missed by his friends and pioneers of this Diesel Sport and i hope every time a Turbo spools up or a black cloud rolls from the pipes of a Cummins he smiles from up above and knows he was a great influence in our lives. . we miss you Buddy! --Greg :(

As sad as it is this is an easy day to remember! Do you think he's looked at what has happen in the last 2 years and said WOW!

RIP

Never got a chance to talk to Nowel, he left a few months before I became a member. Seems like TDR lost one of the good old boys...

I never got to meet him, but I do talk to John Foster quite often, who was very good friends with him, and he talk very highly of him. In fact, he gave all this up after Nowel passed cause he said it wasn't fun for him anymore.

RIP Nowel

Ted

I never had a chance to talk to Nowel but have read many post about him and many thing's referenced to him. He sounded like a great guy and an influence to many. It's people like him that make this such a wonderful hobby and sport. You will always be remembered by many.

RIP NOWEL

It's kinda sad not gettin to bs with him no more. He was a great guy with a great sense of humor. I remember him at the track always had a smile on face. Jake remember the last vegas race with him... :-laf

I think more than one person remembers the look on his face and him standing up and screaming when I holeshot the Rocket on one of our many heads up races in Vegas, but what people didn't see is the big grin on my face when it went by me at the big end at about 10mph faster than I. Way cool gettin' beat by a 2wd 24valve at a time when most 24valves lacked big HP #'s. :D

A rematch will be necessary, but it will be at a later time... in a place far from here

missed he is but remembered he will be for as long as diesels roam this universe--

I met Nowel in 2000--by chance really thru the TDR--was perusing the site back then reading about auto trannies and such--called up DTT and Bill said hey you need to call this guy, so I called him and it was smoke from there on out--a finer friend you could not have--he helped out so many people and was always looking for ways to keep the truck to stay together after souping them up--man was it fun---as mentioned that sportbike is no longer really involved with diesels I will say that it's not as fun to wrench on the ol' truck as it used to be---smoke out... ... ... ... chris

I never got a chance to meet, or really even know HVAC. I can remember after i first signed on i kept seeing the RIP HVAC messages in the signatures of members, so i ran a search. I learned quite a bit about who HVAC really was, and i really wish i had gotten a chance to get to know him. God Bless his family this Christmas season, RIP HVAC

I don't know why but for some reason I was thinkin of the big guy! hard to think it has been 4 1/2 years! Man I would love to see him today in all the progress that has been reached. he would be like a kid in a candy store!

I was just reminiscing with Willyslover about Nowell at a recent campout. It's hard to imagine nearly half a decade has passed already. I met Nowell and Willyslover the same day in June 2000, rode with Nowell in the Red Rocket up to see Gary who'd had the wreck in his '98 not long before. To this day that 70 mile trip in the Red Rocket was one of the wildest I've ever had :D

One of THE best people I have ever had the gift to talk to. HVAC, God speed with a lil #2 still be with you on an epic journey through the afterlife.

I was cleaning out my emails the other day and happened across a few from Nowell, just could not bring myself to delete them. Still have his memorial sticker on the side of my truck. . I never met him in person, but he walked me through injector and turbo changes on the phone with out hesitation. He is one of the reason my truck is BOMBED. He sold me my first box, some crazy thing called a Power Edge, then he sold me one of the first ten Edge EZ's that he had. He got me a deal on some 275 injectors and sent them along and if I remember correctly hooked me up with some guy in BC who was selling torque converters that worked better than anything he had ever used. I got one of the first 10 they sold on a group purchase... . later they called the company DTT.

I hope he is up at the big drag strip in the sky burning rubber and smiling knowing that he had a big hand in starting lots of us down the slippery slope. Sure miss him.
