I just took my 2500 to the dealer for the 2000-2200 RPM vibration in the steering wheel. The TSB that replaces the power steering hose with a new hose with the vibration damper/weight. I was told that this TSB does not apply to my vehicle because it is an HO engine. Are there any DC techs on here that can confirm this for me? I have had this vibration since the truck was new. I have finally been able to get the truck to the dealer and this is what I was told. I read a copy of the TSB (can't remember the number) and I did not see where it was for the SO's only. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Chip

Your dealer is full of it. Myself along with many others have had the brake booster hose replaced. My truck is a '04 high output and I know others have had HO '03's done. Get on your dealers back.

I just took mine in as well, and they tried telling me the same thing. I went over the TSB with a fine tooth comb, and could not see where the SO was any different than the HO as far as the TSB was concerned. They ended up changing out the Hose just the same.

Hi Guys,

I talked to the service adviser on the phone and told him about my vibration. He ordered the part for me sight unseen and called me three days later to install them. :D Some dealers are good and some are not! Lord knows I've seen enough poor ones in So Cal!

Anyone have the TSB # Thanks,Mark.

Update:

I talked with the service writer again today. He informed me that the service manager told him to tell me they would put the new hose on "if they could re-create the condition". I get so tired of dealers telling me that; when there is a know TSB that will correct the problem. When I worked for Dodge back in the '80's we never questioned a customer if they came in complaining of a problem described in a TSB. Just perform the service and be done with it. I guess I will be calling the customer service line tomorrow to complain about this dealer not taking care of their customers. When you buy a 40g truck the service dept. should send someone to pick the vehicle up and drop off a loaner car. I realize that's not feasible... . I just don't understand what happened to "customer service".

Mark, the number is TSB 19-008-03

The TSB is in their database under SO but not under HO so, naturally, they assume it only applies to the SO. My dealer found it there, looked up the new hose part number, found that it was the same hose used for replacement on an HO, ordered one for me and installed it.

As I posted in another thread, my umm gag cough ealer tried the same thing, went to parts counter and my Busisness Link price on the hose is $ 48 and change. Might try one more time and if they give me any you know what I'll probably just buy the hose myself and install it!! :p As the saying goes: I'm my own warantry station!!!! Mark

What dealer did you go to. Guylfgate gave me the same crap about SO and HO. I weally did not want them working on my truck anyway so I bought the hose for $65 and one of these days I will install it myself.

You and MMeier please be carefull when disconnecting the bottom part of the hose! If you do this yourself.

My dealer did this TSB on my 03 and when he unscrewed the hose a check valve came out along with the hose and long story short the steering pump had to be replaced.

Just a word to the wise. Make the dealer do it or find another dealer.

Don,

Hazelwood's Dodge Country in Kingwood is the dealer where I bought the truck and they are the one's trying to deny the service. I got a good deal on the truck but the service dept. sure is questionable. $65 for the new hose?? That's reasonable, I guess I will be buying one as well if they don't install it for me today. These pencil neck GEEK service managers just really pi$$ me off.

PS Hose Damper

If you are going to buy the hose yourself try this. All you are getting is the weight that is attached to the hose. For around $10 you can get a boat shaft Zinc and clamp it to the hose. They are in the shape of a footaball and are in two halves that bolt together over a propeller shaft. The smaller ones are around 1lb and come in a size to fit the hose.
