I replaced the Neutral Safety Switch, still yielding negative results. With the key in the "run" position, I was able to start the truck by jumping the power wire to the signal wire on the starter.

To date, I have replaced the starter contacts, ignition switch, neutral safety switch, 30Amp fuse in PDC for transmission, swapped out relays pertaining to the transmission, and cussed a lot at my truck. I guess I will get it started remotely and bring it to my mechanic on monday. It is still probably something simple...

YEEEEEEEEEEE HAAAAAW!

I checked the continuity of the fuses in the PDC, just like PBJ2500CTD suggested, and found the 20amp starter solenoid fuse was popped. Replaced the fuse, and she roared to life again.

I know some others mentioned checking continuity, but until my friend stopped by tonight, I never knew how to use that function of my multimeter... . no, I am not a mechanic by trade.

Thank you to everyone who helped me on this problem... . I replaced $150 worth of parts, over a 25 cent fuse... . DOH!

Great news for sure! :D

Hey, look at the positive outcome:
  • a learning experience;
  • helping the local economy;
  • Not having to take it to your favorite mechanic to support more of the local economy;
  • Getting a great benefit from the TDR;
  • all the good spare parts you now have ;)

You stated you replaced the blown 20 amp fuse. Now would be a good time to verify the fuse values with what is listed on the PDC fuse "road map" in the PDC cover. All my schematics show a 30 amp fuse for the starter relay. Never install an over-rated fuse in place of a blown one. If the book says 30 use no more than 30. If you use a lower rated fuse you run a risk blowing it again. I have found mis-rated fuses installed by previous owners, and even dealers in many of the vehicles I have owned over the years. Sadly, you could have purchased a FSM (factory service manual) for the money you put into this.

npieske, congratulations on getting back on the road but you played hit and miss to many times.

Starter solenoid contacts are good idea but the other switches could have been checked with a multi-meter.
