Can't seem to find a straight answer.

Looking at buying a 24' car hauler that has an all up weight (loaded) of 10,0000 lbs.

Three questions:

1. Will my truck haul this load ?

2. Will the frame hitch it came with do the job ?

3. Should I get an equalizing hitch set up like travel trailers have ?

Thanks

Your stock receiver is rated at 500 pounds tongue weight and a 5000 pound trailer without a weight distribution hitch. With a WD hitch it is rated for 1000/10,000 so yes you need a weight distribution hitch for a 10,000 pound tow behind. OR, you could buy a heavier rated after market receiver, the one I have is rated for 800/8000 w/o a WD and there are others with higher ratings than that. If you go with a WD it doesn't have to be fancy to do the job. I found one very similar to this on CL for $50.

I really prefer a gooseneck trailer for anything over 25 ft i had a 30 ft open trailer that unless it was loaded properly would fish tail down the road i sold it quickly and bought a 35 ft gooseneck trailer as a replacement and don't regret doing it
