From What I can tell there is an inherent weakness to the steering to the 94-2002 dodge 4x4's. I am a cummins convert after having issues with my powerstroke. Recently purchased a 2000 2500 4x4 6pd with 70k on the odo.

The truck is in great condition but the steering has a lot of play. I am not that mechanically inclined so anything I do will have to be done by a shop.

I have read about Luke's link, 3 gen conversions, etc... I am a little confused. Can someone tell me who the best online vendor is for cust svc so I can talk to them about what I should buy?

Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated.

the track bar is the first place to look

then the steering box

a good front end shop can help you

once you get the bugs worked out it's a great truck

the fuel pump needs to be up graded

get gauges for this truck:eek:

I went with a DT track bar from www.dtprofab.com. Also got a DSS (I think PSC has them on sale right now for $169) can't remember the website right now.

I upgraded my 2001 truck to the 1999 steering setup (do a search) it is a better design and I needed new tierod ends anyways.

My steering box has some play in it that I haven't addressed yet. I'm either going to try to tighten it up or replace the box.
