Sorry I guess that is what it is called. I know there is a hose that comes off the front of the VP-44 ( you can get to the gear key ) and the hose goes into the ????? bottle.

Thank you for the help. And I have been driving Big Rig's for over 30 years.

Its the crank case vent bottle. It has holes in it from the factory on the sides, towards the top. You have to take it off and clean it with every oil change, or you will get spots of oil under the truck. If you have never changed it or cleaned it you will want to do it. A 10mm will take the strap off the front cover and allow you to remove it. When you have it out take a good look at the radiator and see if it is getting plugged up from all the oil over time. Its a real common thing to see radiators get plugged up, as a result of vent bottle. Most call it the PUKE bottle.

Guess I'll check mine out. Had no idea it was supposed to be cleaned. Explains the mess.

Thanks for the question and the info.

Years ago I put steel wool in mine along with a rag. Rag on the bottom and then steel wool. Rag soaks up all the oil and the steel wool allows for breathing around the holes. :) And I clean it every time I change oil. Of course I change the rag at each oil change as well. ;)

just get some 3/4 heater hose and a 3/4 barb to 3/4 barb fitting and hose clams and extend it down to about 6 to 8 inches off the ground and your truck will stay nice and clean under the hood. i do not have any oil spots in my driveway from this either. i guess thats because the only time anything comes out is when the engine is running... .

hope this helps
