I have a 2000 24v and 2 weeks ago I installed new injectors, at the same time I pulled the fuel filter, emptied the filter housing and cleaned a bunch of black sediment out of it, installed a new filter and cycled the key/starter to refill the filter housing (this was my first mistake, I now realize I should have refilled the housing with diesel!). Anyway it finally fired and ran, I backed it out of the shop, shut it off and restarted it no problems. I got it home and tried to start it the next day and it wouldn't fire but the fuel pressure would come up and then you could crank on it while depressing the accelerator pedal and it will fire and run fine, but now I have to go through this drill about 90% of the time when I start it whether its hot or cold. Sometimes when you turn the key on the fuel pressure will come up to around 10 momentarily then fall back to 0 (it did this prior to the injector swap and would start fine) but other times you can turn the key on and nothing happens on the guage, however if I bump the starter the FP guage will jump up to 15 psi ( you can hear the pump running also) for several seconds and then come back down and I have to go through the crank and depress accelerator routine to get it to fire. I know this can not be good for the starter or batteries. I thought maybe I had some air in the system but it should have worked its way out by now and once started it runs great. Anyone have any ideas/experience on this one. Thanks in advance for your help.
