hello everybody I need help . I have a 2000 dodge 2500 24 vavle 4x4 diesel ... I can’t seem to fix My brakes n steering system .. I’ve replaced the power steering pump hydro booster and the high pressure houses gear box .. when driving my truck they will work fine but after a short while the brake will get stuck to the bottom and my steering will get super hard I.. i have to pull the brake off and my steering stays hard ... I have tried flushing the power Steering system I’ve, I also thought there was too much play in my steering which was cause my power steering fluid to over heat so I tightened up my gear box ... I took it into a shop n they told me they just want me to change out my pump and hydroboster again for too much money ... but they also told me that the star thing in my hydrobooster was messed up and might be the issue .. so what do you guys think ??? Please help

Was that your original problem that got you replacing parts or was there a different issue? How long can you drive before it acts up? Does it stick after a normal brake application?

Alright so my original problem was when I would brake my truck would wobble hard after a while but thought it was a bad alignment or something ... but after a while my power steering and brakes completely Gave out and that’s when I started repacleing parts ... so any way I just changed out my master cylinder to add to parts replaced and I feel like it helped a little however it did the same thing to me but this time I was able to pump it and the brakes n steering returns possible air in brake system ?? I can go maybe a mile or so

Are the brakes locked up when the pedal sticks to the floor? You have to push on the brakes to get it to act up Right? Does power steering work fine if brakes are not pushed?

No I feel like my steering acts up first than my brakes lock up .. i feel it getting hard n I go to break n they stick to the floor never the opposite i

Do you hear the power steering pump start to make a wining noise before this happens? Especially when it is cold or when you turn the steering wheel.
Have you noticed any fluid leaking?

Verify that the power steering pump is full of fluid. About the only thing that can cause this is not having fluid in the pump/system or one of the pressure hoses / low pressure hoses is collapsing.
When they changed the hydroboost, did they change the hoses?

Given the age of these hoses, you might have a bad / weak spot.

Idk I kinda gave up on my truck the steering isn’t the same anymore I’ve changed everything out .. what’s going on with your
On my third pump I started having brake issues. Currently my power steering is lacking power with throttle, nothing at idle. During braking, the pedal goes almost to the floor to stop. I didn't do a few of the steps I read in one of your other threads on your issues. I'll try that tomorrow and see. I'm suspecting my gear box is shot as well. It makes a snapping noise turning in each direction and I have a ton of play in the wheel.

Have you tried doing the hydro booster pump test .. noise ?? I never really heard any noise there pretty loud must be a loud noise... actually Only time I herd a noise is when my ac : heater vent door was messed up and wound not stay on ac or heat

If the pedal goes to the floor you have air in the brake system somewhere. Or a bloating brake hose maybe.

If the brake pedal is hard but can be pushed with with great force then the brake booster doesn't work.

If the pedal can't be pushed not even with great force then the ABS Unit is in fault.
