I have a leak coming from under my fuel pump ( engine oil). I found a a nut layn' on top of vacum pump that looks like its from the fuel pump on the block side. I can't get in there to see what stud it is off, obviously this is the source of my oil leak. The pumps were change 14 mnths ago and my dealer is doa. Anybody got any suggestions where i can start? 5. 9 cummins 3500 2000 yr 61,000 miles.

Mirror under base of VP and look forward, flashlight helps, the nut is probably from the bottom stud that holds the VP to the timing case. A long extension with a swivel end, socket to size of nut (I think 14mm) and a tip - put a piece of paper across the socket and insert the nut - this helps keep the nut from dropping out as you try to fish the socket into place. If that nut was/is off I'd check tightness of the others as well. Don't forget the bracket to the block bolts too . . .

I was sucessful on tightening nut on bottom stud but it is still leakin not as bad but it looks like there is no stud or bolt above the bottom bolt or stud. Could this be where im leakin oil from? From what i see i will have to take off the breather cover and see if that bolt or stud is missing. Maybe this is why chrysler went bankrupt htey certainly aren't truck mechanics
