2001/2004 5th wheel hitch adapter

We currently have a 2001 3/4 ton Ram diesel with a 5th wheel hitch for towing our RV. We have purchasec a larger RV and need to by a 1 ton. We want to upgrade to a 2002 or better, but understand that we have to get a new 5thwheel hitch. Does anyone know if they have come up with an adapter or conversion kit that will work with the old 5thwheel hitches or do you have to purchase a whole new hitch?:--)

We currently have an RBW LIL-ROCKER rated at 15K.

Need new installation kit

You should be able to use your current hitch, however you will need a different installation kit for the rails. The "L" brackets that you have now won't work on the hydroformed frame. I've seen the rail and install kit for 03/04 trucks for about $100, but all you should need is the mounting hardware, not rails. Check with your local hitch installer and see if they can sell just the hardware... good luck! BTW I decided to go with the Reese Signature 18K, slick hitch, but a pain to install... had to get a 250lb/ft torque wrench and 1-1/2" end wrench.
