My son just bought a 2001, 2500 4x4, nice comdition but the horn and radio dont work. I am trying to help him trouble shoot his truck via long distance, which is hard at best. I have a couple questions that your answers will be most helpful in trouble shooting;

1. Is the Horn and Radio on the same power circuit ?

2. Do we have to take the upper part of the dash out in order to access the fuse block to trouble shoot

3. There is 12 volts on the hot side of the radio fuse, yet both the horn and radio are dead, any ideas ???

Thanks

Horn is fuse H (20amp) in Power Distribution Center (behind driver's side battery).

Radio is fuse 8 (10amp) in Junction Block (door at left end of dash).

By "radio don't work" are you saying no indication of power to radio?

His truck may be part of Safety Recall 982 that seems to me the only common link between horn and radio.

There is no indication of power to the radio, at all. The truck is equipped with cruise control, but not the steering wheel mount radio controls. Can a failed clock spring cause the horn not to work while allowing the cruise to function properly?

It appears that there may be two separate issues. Any ideas on either problem will be greatly appreciated.

ThankYou

Problems solved. Somehow the radio power plug became disconnected. When checking the clock spring, 1 of the 3 wires was broken. Repaired and now have horn. Thanks for your suggestions, you saved us a lot of time with the Clock Spring idea/recall.
