Archived 2001 2500 HO seeing P0215 code Lancaster PA

Hello all,

I have a 2001 Ram 2500 HO 6speed. The VP44 pump is dead and needs to be replaced. where is there a shop with good experience working on the vp44's? Near Lancaster PA.

Are there any other codes? It might not be the pump.

The other code was P1694

Has someone diagnosed your vp? What are the symptoms? Will the truck run at all? You may have another issue unrelated to the vp. 1694 is a communication failure from the ECM, which could possibly explain a 0215. The ECM is on the drivers side of the engine block. Check the connection to make sure it is tight and corrosion free. Also, low voltage can cause problems so make sure your batteries are properly charged all connections are tight and corrosion free and trace the main ground wires down and check them for the same.



Just thought of a remote possibility try swapping out your fuel system relay with your wiper relay in the PDC under the hood. Once you swap them out, if your wipers still work then you know both relays are good (assuming your wipers work)

This still would not explain the 1694, but is easy enough to eliminate before digging any deeper.

Always verify any and all DTCs before you start replacing parts.

There is nothing in the trouble shooting tree for P0215 that calls for replacing the VP44. It's either the relay, wiring in the relay circuit or the ECM.

Crappy ground connections is an inherent problem with our trucks. Check and clean all ground connections. The battery posts, at the fender, engine block, firewall, frame... . all that you can find.
