I looked at at a 2001 Dodge 2500,quad cab, 4x4, Auto, 3. 55 rear, truck today with a Cummins, and I was wondering how I know if it has the HO engine or not. It does have the rear disc brakes, so I suspect it is the 2001. 5.

What else should I check on the truck? I did notice that it wanders on the road some? Is that a low cost fix?

Thanks

Jon

Just Curious As To What They Are Asking For The 2001. i Also Have A 2001\2500 That Im Going To Put Up For Sale. mine Is In Very Good Cond. i Bought A Bigger Fifth Wheel So I Need To Go To A One Ton

OK, so the HO was on the manual only. They are asking $23,800, and they offered me $3000 for my 95 12V (smoking crack!!!!!). I might go $6000 on my truck, and if I don't get that, I guess I will start turning it up!

The truck is nice, but retail is around $22,900, and I would consider giving them $17 - $18K and my truck.

How many miles? What's the overall condition?

As to the steering wander ... check the loooooong thread on that.

Good luck if you go forward with the HO :)

actually there is an engine tag or plate on the side of the engine below the injector pump that has the horsepower rating on it, the HO is 245 hp, STD is 235 hp. As for the wander, it's the track bar, do yourself a favor and research your options before you fix it, there are two or three real good solutions.

The H. O. besides having the 6 speed will also have a Dana-80 rear end in it. The motor will have the HX-35 turbo and as mentioned before the engine data plate should give you the HP. You should be able to look at the VIN # and derive the information from that also or the build sheet. ;)
