2001.5 changes, please enlighten me

I already know about the rear disc's. I've heard there are some new colors, what are they? If there is something else you know about please speakup, I'm planning to order within the next 10 days. If it makes a diff, I'm debating 2500 or 3500 4x4, just can't decide, maybe I should flip a quater.

It is my understanding that these new trucks
now have a 9cm sized turbocharger housing
on them. Another TDR member and myself
went to our local Dodge dealer 2 days ago
and opened the hood on a 2001. That truck
looked like it had a 9cm housing! My friend
said that they are having some overheating
problems with them. I would definitely
check this out. I hope D/C didn't do this.

John I believe that the HY35 turbo with the 9cm housing has gone back to the HX35 with the 12cm housing on the automatics.
Plus the 01. 5 seems to have lost the black molding off the tailgate, hmmmm must be saving money again like last year when they dropped the side molding off the bed sides.
The SLT plus packsge also has passenger side power seat also.
Not sure if the axles are still Dana, didn't look that close today, also had the center light bar on the tailgate like a 3500 has(I was loking at a 2500).
Al, go with the 3500 4X4 the looks going down the rode in that big truck are worth it #ad

<font color=red>As far as colors go. One of the new ones is Amber Fire Pearl Coat. It's more of a metallic orange. The salesman called it their Harley Davidson color. NOt my choice of color. I'm looking forward to seeing the silver color. If it's anything like the silver on the chrysler sebring, that's the one I want.

They started putting power passenger seats in the 2000 SLT+ trucks. Mine has one.

Gitchesum, i saw the silver yesterday and it does look good, same silver thats on the cars, real bright.
Your right Bill but I'd only seen one other with the power passenger seat. All the SLT+'s I'd seen except one didn't have it. I like the power seat option better for the wife than for me. Regards Pete

metal tech, the two new colors are Amber Fire Pearl and Bright Silver Met. I admit, the 3500 is an impressive looking truck. I tossed this around myself but I needed the flexibility of the 2500. The 3500 is just more truck than I need. The 2500 is more than I really need, but what the H***. I'm hooked.

I'm only considering the 3500 since it's only $1500? more than a 2500. I figure the 2500 will pull a small (28ft) enclosed trailer for my race car w/o any problem. I'm only planning to get the ETH-DEE combo. I do appreciate everyone's input, heck I can't rely on any of the 4 salesmen that I've gotten estimates from.

Just picked mine up. Power seats both driver and passenger sides. Four wheel disks. No black trim thing on the tailgate. The side trim only goes to the back of the quad doors (got rid of that 2" piece on the rear of the cab). No lights on the vanity mirrors. CD player will hold CD in slot with power off or when using radio.

By the way, just got back from 600 mile road trip to Moab Utah, towing a small trailer. Everything works perfect on truck. Handles like a dream, shifts very smooth, and loads of power. Very happy. #ad

Just got my 2001 2500 QC, SB, 4x4, ETH 6-sp, 3. 54 LSD, SLT++ (everything but those lights on top of the roof), White over Silver, Tan leather. Picked it up 8/31/00.

The two new colors are both pretty cool, so I got them both! Amber Fire with Bright Silver on the rockers. Yeah, I know that not everyone can appreciate an orange truck, but I just graduated from the U of Texas, and I really like oange #ad
It's also almost the exact shade that my ex-girlfriend's hair is (yes she is a redhead). That's probably my favorite color #ad

I lived in Savanah for two years, coming from Texas with a 3500. The wide fenders were a pain on the narrow east coast streets. Have now switched to a 2500 with no fenders to hold my breath about.

It seems stupid to me that they would leave the black plastic moulding off of the tailgate. It is there to keep rocks, or snow, or ice, that is on top of the bumper, from trashing the tailgate when you open it.

it also keeps the stupids hiden , i backed into my mailbox the other day , i gotta move that thing , figured i messed up the tailgate on this one to , when i got out to look only a little nick ... on the black moulding , you guys without it should go down and get one and put it on ... skibum how are those rear discs ? i'll wait the 2 years till they have them figured out before wanting them ...

Regarding 4-wheel disk brakes: These are very nice. The rear disks are vented. The calipers are at the rear end of the disk at axle height. There is a vented shield plate on the inboard of the rotor for protection. Looks like a very well thought-out design.

Best thing, I can stand on the brakes at 70 MPH and will come to a smooth stop with no pulling one way or another (hands off of the steering wheel). Never drove a truck before that stops as well.

SkiBum... sounds like a cool truck! Glad you like it. Maybe I can check it out when we go skiing at Park City/DeerValley/Alta/'Bird, etc. We come out every year... usually a couple of times.
