2001.5 LSD rear end

I was going through some slick areas today and noticed that one rear wheel was spinning faster than the other one. (1 barely and the other fast) I normally have posi-trac when going thru mud and such. With 295K, do I have a LSD problem, I just noticed this issue today.

If it was icy slick the differential may not have sensed sufficient L-R torque difference to engage the clutch pack.

Or it is just worn out after so many miles, these clutch packs are a wear item.

Well Ozy, As bad as I hate to hear that, The old Red Mare has been very good to me for the last 20 yrs. and the more research I do, the more that sounds logical. I guess I'll start looking for a shop to take it to. Houston has some good shops.

These are the fiber plates out of my ‘98 with @ 300K miles on them.

There is a procedure to test the LS, most likely a Power Lok.

It depends on the cost but you could consider a TrueTrac instead of rebuild the clutch style LSD. I don't know the price for the D80 but some Trues are in the 500$ range.

Looks like the rebuild kit alone is in $300 range. I wonder if I can do this job myself, it looks easy on youtube.
