2001.5 Service Manual

Did anyone order their service manuals yet? I did..... guess what, they are the wrong manuals. I thought 4 months would be enough time to get the new manuals out but I guess I was wrong. #ad


I called the 800# and spoke to Lisa, she didn't have a clue how much our truck had changed. She suggested I call DC at the cust. care(?) number. I did and spoke to Tony who checked with a tech(?) and was told the NEW 2001. 5 manual would be released in a week or two. #ad


So, if you ordered the manual and it does not cover your truck (disc brakes, electronic cruise control, etc. ) you can return it and wait for the REAL manual. Ask for Lisa.

I asked getting into it... but I was told it would be a while for the new "update" and that I could get the update seperate at a later date.

Besides, if the cruise messes up its DC's problem not mine, as for the brakes, guess that will depend on what is mess'n up.

I got it mostly for the engine and and torque spec info.

I ordered mine in Aug. and received the 2000 service manual with a seperate 2001 update manual (about 1/3 the size of the 2000 service manual).

Yes, I likewise got a separate manual for the later version. Received them maybe two weeks ago.

I called the DC distribution folks(800-890-4038)last night to check on my refund credit.
I returned the service manuals that they shipped in error and expected them to credit my account. Well, it seems the folks we talk to (Becky, Carrie, Lisa) are all in Cleveland, OH and the return address that the manuals are returned to are in Elyria, OH. The distribution center(Elyria)claims my manuals never arrived (Returned Oct 7th via USPS First Class mail). There is still a chance that the manuals arrived and someone on day-shift set them aside and Lisa promised to check on that Monday at 4PM when she arrives. As of right now, It appears my new manuals will cost over $206 #ad
since DC distribution is just pointing the 'finger' at usps.
Moral of this story? Do NOT rely on the uspostal system if you are returning your manuals because DC sent you the WRONG ones the first time. Use some other method to return them so you have a signature. In my opinion, DC distrubution SHOULD be responsible for the return of the manuals since they were shipped in error. Whaddya think?

Carl, the manual is about 103 shipped so your pricing is not such a deal.

Benson, there used to be two manuals, the 2000 and a 2001 supplement. The supplement does NOT cover the new 2001's. It was made to cover the early 2001's.
Now there is only ONE manual and it covers
the 2001 trucks only. I guess I'll find out when it arrives if it covers both early and late 2001's but I'm guessing it will.

Guess I really shouldn't be surprised but Lisa from the distribution center has NOT returned my phone call and it is now Wednesday. Guess I need to keep buggin' those folks just like we have to keep track of DC. #ad

Just called the number. The person went to check on it and came back with, "I'll ship out the new manuals at no charge. " That's great, hope she follows through. Hope you find success also Mick.

Did you return your original manuals? So they just picked up the shipping on the replacement manuals? Interesting. My new
manual has not arrived yet but when it does, I'll call if they charged me for shipping.
