Have replaced the PCM, New Alt, And the batteries check out to be good.

All gauges work minus the fuel gauge which has not worked for about 3years now.

Still will not hold a charge, the volts keep falling off.

Checked and rechecked all fuses under hood and in cab.

Please give me some advice.

Where do you keep your keys. A friend of mine has an 06 & his battery's keep going dead. Took it to the dealer & the dealer asked him where he kept his keys & he said on the center consul. They said that was his problem, the key keeps the computers working which causes a battery draw when it is close to the truck. He takes the keys in the house now & has not had anymore problems with the battery's going dead. Just a thought.

I would agree with metzger, however, unless a FOB is attached to the the ring, there is NO probability of such on a 01. I would look for a short somewhere in the wiring..... good luck. I would start with that fuel gauge that you said doesnt work... . possibly a short there????? Also, in this 01, are you running any big item electrical deal? Subs? Amp? Remote Start? Might wanna check there..... If your power system checks out on the stand, then there has to be a short somewhere. How about A-Pillar or dash gauges? If there, even though they work/not work, trace the wiring and check to see that insulation is there and it is not grounding out on something metallic. If you need more help, please feel free to pm me.

Regards,

John

problem fixed.

Wires to the alt were very tight and had broken, only the insulation was holding them together.

Thank you everyone for the fast response.
