Is this considered Limp Mode?

While taking off from a traffic light or stop sign (randomly) my DTT auto won't shift out of first gear... . it doesn't matter if the truck is cold or hot... in fact it does it when the truck is cold in the morning after I drive a few blocks and then it does when the truck is warm after I exit the freeway... I've also noticed if I hit a large bump/speed bump at low speeds it do the same thing... every time this happens I have to pull over and power cycle the truck and it will eventually take off again and shift as it should.

I spoke with DTT and they suggested I change the following parts:

4617210 Solenoid Trans

4800879 Sensor Trans

I'm getting these (4) codes:

P0622 Generator Field "F" Control Circuit Malfunction

P1762 Overdrive Band Failed Off

P1765 Timing Solenoid Circuit Malfunction

P1740 Torque Converter Clutch Inductive Signature Malfunction

I'm going to change the Solenoid and Sensor today... Is there anything else that could be causing this problem? It's pretty sketchy to be stuck in 1st gear with 4 lanes of rush our traffic accelerating behind me... I've almost been rear-ended twice due to this problem.

Please help.

Some of your definitions are incorrect.

P1762-GOV PRESS SEN OFFSET VOLTS TOO LO OR HIGH

P1765-TRANS 12 VOLT SUPPLY RELAY CTRL CIRCUIT

P1740-TCC O/D SOL PERFORMANCE

Anyone have any idea what's causing this? Maybe I'll have to post this in the Comp forum...

Changed the solenoid/sensors in the Trans and it's still doing it...

Any help would be appreciated.

Mr. Devil,

All of the DTC's you have can be triggered by a problem with the transmission sensor circuit.

Try this before doing anything else:

Remove the transmission control relay which is located in the PDC (Power Distribution Center) under the hood on the driver's-side fender. It should be labeled "TRANS. " Swap it out with another non-critical relay (such as the wiper or horn relay). Turn the ignition ON and clear the DTC's using a code scanner. Start the engine and see if the P1765 DTC returns. If it doesn't, test drive the truck and see if the problem is gone. In that case you can assume the transmission control relay was faulty and you'll simply need to replace it. It's a common relay available from any auto parts store.

If the P1765 DTC does return, then you'll need to conduct a series of trouble shooting steps to try and isolate the exact source of the problem.

Let me know your results with swapping out the transmission control relay and if necessary I'll post detailed trouble shooting steps for you.

Good luck,

John L.
