There has been lot of discussion on this topic over the years. I have been running 265' for years with no problems. Would like to go bigger. Of course the dually is the problem. So, if I do a lift, spacers and everything else I still end up with tires on 6" wide rims.

So, I read somewhere that some of the newer rams had 17X8 wheels. Does anybody know if that is true and if they will fit.

Thanks

3rd gen wheels

I have a set of 3rd gen wheels on my truck. They fit just fine for me. All I have to do now is find a nice set of wheel covers for them.

I think you are right. Still 6 inches. So, either put big ties on undersized rims, go 19. 5 or just give up. !!!

Yes, I wouldn't install bigger/wider tires on the 16x6 wheels, even a 265 is getting too wide. Did you just want taller tires or wider and taller? What about the oem 19. 5's that come on P-30 Chevys? I think the 8x19. 5 is about a 34" tire. I just don't know if the center hole is the same as Dodge. Some Chevy guys might know.

I have been going to do this on my Ford dually but havent yet. However it has a D-70HD out of a Chevy so they will fit. The problem I have is the front axle is Dodge and it is not a hub centric axle like the 19. 5 Chevy wheels are.

I run the 315s on factory wheels..... If light loaded, it can cause some funny wearing, but I've never had a sidwall problem, with proper spacers..... Toyo recommends a minimum 8" wide wheel... . Several sets burned through on my own truck with no problems... Just air down unloaded. I've installed several sets, and cutomers love the added flotation in sand... .

And on 16" wheels, I run 255/85R16s dualled, without spacers. Some brands are wider than others, but that size is getting limited in availability, so I run the Coopers or Mastercraft CTs. I've had several sets of them, and had good luck, too. You have to have the '01+ 16" wheel with the added backspacing, though.....

So, about where would your run the front and backs with no load ? I assume I will need the 2" coil lift in the front and a 2 inch ? spacer for the backs ?

The coil spacer in the front is arguable... . I did it for ground clearance and after I stacked extra leaves in the rear for my preferences... ... well, it needed 'em. It will rub the inner fender liner without the front spacers at steering mid-lock..... 1. 5" spacers in the rear would be enough, I used 2" as that's what I had at the time, and with heavy loads, it might be needed..... may be overkill. I run the fronts at 55-60 and the rears at 30psi empty/50 loaded. Also, remember this tire has almost double the air capacity, volume wise, as your factory tires. Less air pressure, but still more load carrying capacity.
