I am looking for the towing harness that runs into the bed, but I am not finding it. Looking at the FSM schematics, it shows a split where the harness goes to the class-III connector and/or the aftermarket tow connector. Since the factory installed hitch already had the 7-way connector installed, does this mean I am looking for the aftermarket part of the harness that really isn't there?

If it helps, the truck was built June 2000, with camper package and towing package.

Thanks in advance!

Let me be sure I understand what you're looking for. Do you want a 7-pin connector in the bed as well as the factory connector that mounts on the receiver? If so, I've never seen a factory "in-bed" connector. I fabricated the 7-pin in-bed connectors for both my 1996 and 2002 3500s, soldering and sealing all splices into the factory wiring harness. That way, I have the in-bed connector for use with the 5th wheel and the receiver connector for use with "bumper pulls". Are you saying the FSM shows an under-bed plug I could have tied into? Hmmm... ... .

No, I know there was never a factory in-bed connetor. I was led to believe there was wiring (probably blunt cut wires) for the addition of an aftermarket connector. I figured I'd have to solder it in. I am starting to believe you get one or the other. The factory towing wire harness is either there, and needs to be wired up to an aftermarket connector, or that wire harness is terminated and connected to the factory installed 7-pin connector.

I read through that link, thanks. Yes that is what I'm wanting to do, get a 7-pin connector in the bed in addition to the factory one on the hitch. I've got a gooseneck and a tag trailer that I switch back and forth with. I think I will buy the parts from mopar and basically duplicate the factory connector setup. I was hoping the second "pigtail" was already part of the harness. Especially since they gave us the two square holes in the bed floor for running wires up through.
