Guys,

A friend of mine has a 2001 H. O 6-Speed with a HX-40 turbo, Diesel Dynamics Stage II injectors in conjuction with an Edge Competition Box, and a TST Powermax box. He is experiencing low boost of approximately 32 Psi at full throttle. It doesn't matter what setting either one is on the boost never exceeds 32 Psi and the truck smokes like a train. The lift pump was recently replaced and we are wondering if anyone has any suggestions on what to check or what can be wrong. We are wondering if the injection pump might be bad and may be contributing to the low boost since the place where we got the turbo from said the boost should be at 38-48psi. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks ahead of time...

Wastegate is set too low, or you have a boost leak somewhere. Do a search on pressure testing the boost piping and intercooler. Clamp off the wastegate actuator line and go hammer it first, you should see at least 40 PSI with that much fuel, if not find the leak.

I would say that besides the two fueling boxes on top of each other (can you say pump eater) that the waste gate is set too low. Actually not that low really, mine is set to open at 36 and be dumping all boost at 40. Piers says the turbo will last alot longer at that boost.

I had a somewhat similar experience with my truck last year, turned out to be my adjustable boost elbow was shot... A buddy got me a new one, now I'm all :D:D:D again. Only real difference between my truck and the one with the problem is I only have a drag Edge Comp box.

IF you shut the Edge off or set it to 1-5 and then turn on the PowerMax it is all good. If you turn the PM off before going over 1-5 on the Comp it is all good. Don't freak about multiple boxes automatically... ... .
