I have a stock 1995 2500 with 270,000 miles.

A friend has a 2001 3500 with a dead High Pressure pump.

Does the timming on this 2001 stock truck get set the same as my 1995?

Are you just replacing his VP44? If so, you'll have no problems. It's a very straight forward remove and replace. The critical part is the woodruff key for the pump gear.

The woodruff key that comes with the new pump is offset specifically for that pump. It has a number on it. Write that number down just in case you lose it. Be EXTREMELY careful not to drop the key inside the gear housing when installing the pump. The rest of the install is simple mechanics.

Thanks
