First time towing......

Need Help Buying a new trailer

My 01 has the towing package, I found the wires under the rear bumper on the driver's side. There is a left/brake, right/brake, clearance, and ground on a 4 way plug and a small gauge blue wire, I am assuming that is the trailer brake wire. My question is does the D/C wire harness have a wire that is used to charge the trailer battery or do I have to run one from the truck battery?

Thanks,

The factory wiring will charge the trailer battery. If you park overnight with the truck hooked up I would unhook the truck from the trailer. Any power load on the RV will also drain the truck batterys. Ive heard there is a way to avoid this but cant remember what the solution was.

FD5,

If you have the towing package you should also have a 7 pin plug mounted to the receiver hitch.

This plug will have the charge wire for your trailer as well as the terminal for the trailer brakes.

I don't think the small blue wire associated with the "4 Pin" connector has anything to do with the brakes.

Good Day,

Tow Package

Maybe it doesn't have the tow package. It has a Mopar receiver with a flat 4 wire connector and a place under the dash to plug in a brake controller, relays under the hood for trailer but I can't find any other wires back by the receiver other than the 4 wire flat connector which only has 1 blue wire in that harness.
