2002 auto center console.

Looked in the SM, searched the threads.

How do you adjust the little locking stud? I purchased a add on cupholder and the lid will not lock with the additional thickness of the cupholder. I need to adjust the locking stud vertically.

I tried to turn it and it would not. Looks like it has threads on it, but????????????? Maybe a jamb nut under it somewhere?

Need some insight,

Thanks,

Bob Weis

It just turns counter clockwise (from above) to make it come out farther.

I had to use vice-grips on mine to get it to close witt my cup-smoothie... it was a pain, but well worth the effort... I wouldn't be w/o that cup-holder.

This is for future searches on same subject

A 10mm stud remover rotated the stud easily counter clockwise. Adjustment was simple. Stud remained nice and snug.

Thanks,

I have always wondered about this. On my truck center condole, looking inside there is a locking retainer piece. When I push the open button on the drivers side I see the locking retainer piece moves toward the passenger side. I cannot see a way to get to it to rotate it. What did you need to do to get to it?

Thanks in Advance

The locking piece in the top of the console is not the part that you adjust. It is the stud in the bottom part of the console that you adjust. The stud that has the bullet shaped top then a groove that the top cover latch slideing part you looked at slides into to hold the top closed.

The stud is like in a tight fitting kind of retaining threaded nut system. I had to turn mine about 2+ turns counter clockwise and it did not loosen so as to not still stay in place, it just rotated so I could make the verticle adjustment.

Hope this helps,

I just got after mine with channel locks and got it to work. It doesn't have the same feel as it did when stock, but hell that cup holder is one of my best modifications!
