2002 auto transmission surching......

another auto transmission problem...

dad has a 2002 auto with 275 injectors. the truck has 6000miles on it. now when driving, it surches between 3'rd and 4'th going up through the gears. it dosn't do it all the time. i'm going to check the fluid level today. any ideas?TIA... . james

Can also try cleaning the TPS/APPS sensor connections and apply'n di-electric grease. Mine did the same thing. This fixed it temporarily. Reflash of PCM fixed it so far. TSB 18-02-99.

It also simply depends on your speed and road conditions. There is a long uphill grade to our house and when my wife drives, the truck will shift and then downshift and shift again, searching for that perfect gear... . the problem is that at that speed and incline, neither is perfect (or they both are!). My solution is to drive faster - and give a little more pedal when it makes that shift!
