I have a '02 auto now, previously I had an '01 auto. My '02 definately shifts firmer than my '01 did. I have no trouble telling when it is shifting or going in to lock-up. I asked the dealer about this after I had the truck for a few weeks and they said Dodge calls it " Firm-Shift ", for longer transmission life with less slipage between shifts. I agree this '02 seems to have less slipage than the '01 did, but is my dealer just talking out of their you know what  or did Dodge really do something different for '02 auto's
