I ordered a 2002 2500 slt+ and I'm concerned about this deletion list that I've been hearing about. Will this truck have all the expected items like hood insulation etc. or should I check with my dealer to be sure?

Thanks Otis:confused:

yea!

I'd like to know the answer to this too. Aside from rear cupholders and rear wheel liners. What else did Dodge skimp and scr@w us out of (for the same cost to the consumer, of course) in 2002. :mad: :mad: :mad:

Hood Insulation is gone. You can go to the parts counter and tell them you need a hood liner. If they ask for a year just say 2001 (they should all be the same from '94 to present). I believe the reported cost was around $50 for the liner, but they get ya on the fasteners. I think they are about $2/ea and it takes around 12-14. Might give Mopar4less a call (1-800-748-2139) and ask for internet parts sales. I just ordered the rear wheel liners for a 2002 I have on order. I paid $90 for liners, fasteners and shipping. Think the regular price was almost twice that!!

Some have report the "Oh I TRIED TO BY-PASS THE CUSSING FILTER" handle on the passenger side A-Pillar has been deleted, the 2002 trucks I test drove had them. Might be a matter of what trim level or plant the truck is made at as to if it comes with one or not. Also the lighted vanity mirrors have been deleted for awhile now.

If the search function worked you could find a thread specific to the deletion issue and what all else has been deleted over the years.

I made comment about all the deletions when ordering my truck and asked what's up with that. Sales lady just shrugged and said: I know, but if they can get away with it they will. We talked about the rear wheel liner issue and she said she thought the reason for the deletion is because Chevy and Ford are no longer doing it, so DC decided they did not need to any more. Kind of like "keeping up with the Jone's" type of thing. If the "other" puts something on thier truck and it helps sales, then everyone else follows ("keeping up with the Jone's"), guess the same applies when the competition decides to drop something.

I've been reading here that the '02 4x4's don't have the front axle disconnect anymore. :{

Dana must be getting back at DC for dropping them in favor of American Axle in '03. :p

Thanks for the info 1tuffram, It's a little depressing because I have a 2001 with all the stuff the trucks should come with. I guess I could keep all these things and transfer them on to the new truck but it would'nt be fair to my brother in law who is buying it. :{

My son just purchased a 2002 SLT QC 4X4, and the under hood liner as well as the rear wheel liners, lighted vanity mirrors are not there. The "Oh I TRIED TO BY-PASS THE CUSSING FILTER" handle on the passenger side is still there however.

My 02 still has the one handle on the A pillar but the one in the roof is gone. The rear liners were $33 a piece from dodge. You can get the pop rivets from PeP Boys a lot cheaper. Jeff :rolleyes: :rolleyes: Oo.

I ordered the wheel liners and pop rivets from Mopar4less and paid $90 for everything including shipping. Are the Pep Boys rivets the same as the OEM? I ask because I hear the OEM pop rivets take a special rivet gun to install (standard rivet guns will not work). So I am faced with either tring to locate the "special" rivet gun and do it myself or pay the stealer to install them. If the Pep Boys rivets don't require a special rivet gun to install maybe I'll run down and get them and use instead of the OEM rivets.

Anyone know the website address for Miller tools or know how or where to find the rivet gun to install the OEM plastic pop riviets?

I don't know about the rivets from pep boys but the dodge rivets do take a special gun. Luckily a friend of mine with a body shop had one. It doesn't look any different than a reg. gun it's the shaft on the rivets are larger. The liners are a snap to put in. about 10 mins. and you should be done. Jeff :D :D

When I put the rear wheel well convers on after I installed my 5er hitch, I just used some nuts and bolts where they attach to the box, and some screws with spring clips where they attach to the fender. Now I can remove them and reinstall them any time I want to without any special tools, and they are reusable. Cheaper than the plastic rivits too.

The overhead oh s**t handles were gone on my 2001. 5 but the mounts are still there under the headliner. The first thing my wife asked when she got in was what happened to the handle? So I went and picked one up $25. OO and 10 minutes later it was in. Have thought about getting another one for the driver side. Would be handy for the offroad driving but so far haven't. I have enough brain damage already not sure I want to take any cracks on the head from it.
