Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) 2002 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 24 valve 5.9l diesel

Everything runs fine but check engine light is on and tachometer does not show a reading. Any ideas of whats going on? A wiring harness came loose?

what code showing? could be loose wiring or the cam position sensor. Both easy to check or fix. Try the key trick to read code. on off on off on without starting the code will show up in the odometer window.

The key trick will generate two sets of codes, both ending with "done" (PdonE & EdonE). One set is from the PCM and one from the ECM. No tach points to the cam position sensor. I vaguely remember that the lift pump doesn't run until the ECM gets a signal from the sensor.

The codes that show up in the odometer window are PPCU, P1693, PDONE, PECU, P1690, P0341, PDONE. The codes are shown in that order.

I checked all connections,lift pump makes pressurizing noise when I click the key to on position, everything looked fine to me, I clicked the key to back position 3 times, unhooked batteries and rehooked batteries back up, truck started fine, no check engine light anymore and tach works... should I be worried?

The codes that show up in the odometer window are PPCU, P1693, PDONE, PECU, P1690, P0341, PDONE. The codes are shown in that order.

1693 means there is a companion code,1690 is injection ump ckp, 0341 is cam poistion sensor. these are the codes I got when my cps went south. the cps is about 89. 00 and is not to bad to change. I think the 1693 is because the injection pump and the cam sensor don't agree with each other. I would change the cam sensor 1st.
