What is the deal with the U-joints in the one tons? what i mean is that they do not last. I'm doing the U-joints on the back drive shaft once a month and they only use a 5-16 bolt. come on People get it together these are work trucks not play trucks put in some real bolts like 13mm. Oh just came from the dealer and seen on the 04-05 rams that they went to a 13-15 mm bolt. its about time and now the injector pumps what where they thinking the 12 valve the pumps worked good they made the 24 valves and they went the the worst pump ever why!!!!! did you fall out of bed and hit your head??? What else is there to be said about the dodge ram. I'm Happy to see they cleaned up the act for the 04-05 years but what is next.

Rant Rant Rant One ****** owner But will never Change to ford or chevy :-{} :-{}

Thanks Keith

If you are changing U-joints once a month, maybe you should try to fix the source of the problem. Bent driveshaft, out of balance driveshaft, axle wrap, all of these thing can contribute to killing U-joints to quickly.

I don't mind the VP-44. The Lift Pump, on the other hand, leaves something to be desired.

the thing is that the drive shaft is not bent or not even unbalance thats what is fustrating and that i have ripped out the 5/16th bolts twice when i got stuck and torque it up

I've been pulling 5th wheels with 3500 duallies since 1996. The current 5ver has a 16,000 lb GVWR. In all this time, I've never even had to replace a U-joint. I certainly have never ripped any out. Something here sounds strange to me!! :rolleyes:

Ya I also pull the GVW of the truck which is 16,000KG Which is about35,000 lbs and I pull it for a long time. In a month I Drive about 16,000-20,000 km and it is all type of driving. And not the truck is not lifted. It is a full out work truck I will try to get some pics of my girl. .

Well, if I were pulling 35,000 lbs, that would put my GCW right at 42,700 lbs. Considering my truck has a GCWR of 21,500 lbs, that would mean that the truck is trying to move almost 200% of its rated load for many miles per month. Perhaps I can better understand why U-joints are failing now.

Good Point it is a dodge not a ford or a chevy. No I see your point and well the truck dose not have a problem pull the lbs I throw at her. But some one could think that dodge would make the rear yoke stronger in a one ton Cab & Chassis. Like if you look at a reg one ton and a Cab & Chassis you will See a big difference in the suspension manly in the rear.
