Is 2002 the year for the redesign? If so, when will we see it? Also, what new goodies will we see? (hydroformed frame, rear disc brakes etc. )

From what I understand only the 1500's will be new for 2002. The diesel folks won't get the new body until a year later. That's all I know at this point.

Benson, right in what he's saying'about the model an year. #ad

I am sure it is all a done deal now, but from my understanding there will be 2 different body styles, one for 1500, one for 2500/3500. I really disagree with this, feel it is just a copy of what Ford has done. That posted picture of what the 1500 is to look like, looks good, real good to me. I have a feeling I will not have the same opinion when we finally the the 2500/3500. For as long as anyone can remember, all light truck series have used the same body, with different frames and underpinings for weight class. Things will surely cost more with a differnt body than the 1500's both initially and in the future. If one would need a door/fender/hood 10 or 20 years down the raod, it would sure be easier to find and cost less if all series used the same body.

Also, for the record, the styling of the F-150 offends me, it looks way to much like an overgrown Toyota. It does however look rather elegant when compared to the so called "Super Duty", whose styling could only be loved by a Ford truck stylist's mother, and look at those mirrors--they look to be hung from the doors by 2 male reproductive organs.

Yuk, lookes like an F150 with a Dodge grill, to me.

I read that in 2002 no more Cummins!DC plans on using a Mercedes Benz diesel. I've worked on MB diesel engines before-they are a hassle, glad I got Rams in '95.

Well, If it's all the same to Dodge, as long as they do something stupid like copying Ford and releasing 2 body styles... how about giving the 2500/3500 tilt front ends like the BIG trucks? Sure would make it a lot easier to BOMB er, I mean, service that engine! #ad

Well, on the way out of the proving grounds at Hell, some of us saw a full size SUV. It was covered up so we couldnt see what is was, but it was a full size and had 4 real doors and had the powerwagon body style. It has the there was no doubt about what was under it. They might have the maxx cab as the 1500 and the powerwagon as the 2500+. And it would have a club cab if they had a 4 door suv based off of it.

What I heard last weekend from what should be a knowledgable Cummins source, was a new engine and truck for 2003... this was after he assured us the Cummins/DC relationship would continue.

The Fleet Manager at the dealership where I purchased my truck said that there is no way that Dodge will leave the Cummins engine. He said that they are talking about adding the Mercedes but that would be in the new 4500 and 5500 trucks they would be unveiling. He also said that the picture posted above is not very accurate. He has seen the drawings and the truck is much different then the prototype.

I know the next question is what about crew cab. To tell you the truth I did not ask. If I get a chance I will.
