2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Double overdrive Question???

Want to install egt and boost guages in 2002. Suppliers say to drill into manifolds for both. Called Cummins, thay said I could try the pipe plugs by the sensor(boost) for the computer. Anybody try this yet?For the egt, they say I have to drill also, has anybody found a better way,if I have to drill,I'm drillin the pipe after turbo, even though it's not supposed to be as accurate. Did that on my 92 and it was served me fine for 10 years. I ain't about to be drillin holes in a new engine. How come Cummins does'nt use plugs for both,(or do they),as these are pretty common guages to use. Gonna use the post mount, any pros and cons or help? Thanks Stan

There is a threaded plug about 1 1/4 inches in diameter back on the driver's side of the engine - between the fuel filter and the MAF sensor - just unthread it, use the appropriate fittings for your guage install, and have at it!;) :D

As for the EGT probe, honestly WHAT'S the DIFFERENCE between drilling and then threading the elbow BEHIND the turbo, and the manifold AHEAD of the turbo? They are BOTH about the same level of difficulty - but the one AHEAD of the turbo will be the most accurate!;)

Hope whatever you do works out well...

Gary, thanks,do you think drilling the manifold would cause a warrenty problem? Also,I see you use a pusher pump and guage,That was on my wanna do list also, but again,I wondered about the stupid warrenty. If the fuel pump did have a problem, could they blame it on "your" pump,or the guage?I was hoping they fixed the problem in 2002. Mines only 2 weeks old,not up to speed yet. Thanks again Stan
