Will a 2002 HO VP 44 work on my 98. 5? Any hookup variations? Will the superchips programmer and computer recognize it the same? My truck is down on power when the programmer is removed and i'm afraid the vp is going south. When I say down on power I mean losing speed on moderate grades empty in OD. Can the vp just be weak and the truck still run and drive fine? BTW the stock lift pump went out and was replaced with new stock pump about 6-8 weeks ago. Thanks in advance for any help.

Charlie - Instead of going with an HO from an 02 - if I had my choice I'd go with an HRVP-44. Apparently the HR for a non-HO is better than an HR for the HO for some reason? Do a search on HRVP and there's a post that describes why. If I get a chance later on and can locate it I'll post back with the link for you. Sorry to hear about the LP going out and even more sorry that you used a stock replacement. See link "GFS-392 Fuelling system" in my signature. Been working great for me 18-19 psi idle and never drops below 16 w/Comp on 5/5.

The HRVP really wakes up an HO truck that is already fuel limited..... The max HP from a HRVP is no more than a standard VP, where it shines is on lowend grunt, fueling of an HO motor, or the ability to run smaller injectors and make bigger HP. In your case I would go with the standard VP (-027). The HRVP is a nice addition but with it comes the possibility of the dreaded lope at idle.

Thanks Doug - I know I read about HRVP and HO Vs SO but wasn't sure which it actually was better for. Merry Christmas.
