Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) 2002 with lots of codes and no power

I have this posted on 911. seems like my codes are new this morning. I disconected the battery last night, also change fuel filter than I took it for a ride. Idles well but no power new codes pcu 1693 ecu 0562 0343 0112 1475 1488 0122 0342. cruise control light flickers, water in fuel light on, I think this morning I will start cleaning grounds

You might want to have your battery and alternator checked first. That #0562 is low charging system voltage. The 1475 & 1488 are conflicting signals. . one being low 5V aux voltage the other being high 5V aux voltage. With a low battery/charging system though the ECM could be throwing all kinds of bad codes. Cleaning the grounds is always a good idea too.

The other obvious problem is the ECM is toast. Good luck.

I am kinda thinking ecm too, yesterday one of the code was a 0606 I believe it is a pcm processor fault. I am wondering since it starts right up that its the pcm not ecu and if it is pcm where is a good place to get one? thanks

I would lean towards checking the electrical also. Battery and alt load tests and clean all grounds.



When My Engine ECM died it was a no start. The way to tell is if you get no wait to start light at key on it is toast. Marco and Bob W taught me that one.

wait to start light came on for a few seconds. I could hear the grid heater. one other item I forgot to add the temp gauge fluctuates up halfway and down

cleaned grounds and battery terminal, wiggled wires. Started right up, water in fuel light came on, cruise control comes on for a few than off and idle goes up and down, like it gets to much fuel and goes to normal idle for a while so I let it idle for a few minutes and after a few minutes the idles is good and steady, so I take it down the road, there seems to be a dead spot in the pedal and once I get past this I get full power, this leads me back to my first problem driving down the highway when cruise control started automatically I know I didnt press the button anyway my question is the cruise control related to the tps and could my cruise control be shorting out in the tps or could my tps be going bad and setting all these weird codes. Also water in fuel light comes and goes

I don't think that's going to cut it. i would strongly recommend you run the truck over to a NAPA or other auto parts place and let them check your batter/charging system. You've got major problems there which could end up getting dangerous.

The 0122 is TPS (throttle position sensor) voltage low. Mine threw out this code some time ago. Turned out my batteries were getting weak was the only thing I could figure, I load tested them, had to change both and the code went away, been running fine since. I agree with the other guys, get charging system checked out

well I left for the dealer today and about halfway she quit. had to get a tow. I am at 93000 miles and they put a new vp at 60000 so that could be it agian, who knows, the dealer let me take a 2007 with 25000 miles home, sure is quiet its also an automatic, I must say I like my 2002, seems like it has more power and I like the sound, also it is getting broke in a few scratches and dings a little bit of tobacco on the floor. I am a master electrician and can say that truck and auto wiring is a nightmare, wires rubbing tight bends, stupid connectors. Ive wired control boxs with alot more wires, and can get to each one. I 'll post my update to the fix. thanks alot for the help

well, just recieved a call from the dealer and the ecu is toast. Spendy little unit. I wonder what would toast it? Man I like my 2002 but with the vp and this ecu and I'm only at 93000 I dont have the trust factor and I spent enough money for this machine it should be more reliable than this. It really sucks on the ecu. I dont even know where to get one besides the dealer. the cost is 1300 installed, says its not a warranty item. , I can honestly say driving the 2007, dealer let me use it out while mines there, i wouldn't buy it, talk about a diesel hog feels like I'm always filling it up and it feels guttless, they should be getting better mpg than this.
