Normaly i post on the First gen. side but I went looking at a new 3500 High out put with 6 speed to day. I have read a lot on the problems of lift pumps and trans problems. Are thease the mager problems and what is the good sides of this set up.

I have a 93 4/4 with pack brake and gear vender and new South bend clutch, That is puting out 330bhp and do not know if the new truck is worth the investment. This one is pulling and runing fine. I am going into retardment as some say in 18 months and now would be a good time to get a new truck. How do the HO. put 6 speed do if not bomed. not that it will stay that way for long. Is there any problems to look out for.

thanks Harlan:rolleyes:

You'll be happy with the '02. Trans problems with the 6-speed are few & far between. You may read about a few on the TDR Boards, but you gotta remember one thing... It is only a few guys who are having the problems. I have worked on many '99+ CTD trucks with the 6-speed, and have seen no problems whatsoever. I have 80,000 miles on my '01 ETH, and the transmission has been flawless. I change the oil in it every 30K, along with the coolant in the engine.

Lift pumps are another story. No doubt moving the pump towards the tank will solve the problems. However, I have seen a lot of trucks in our shop with no problems with the stock pump. Best thing to do is change your fuel filter every 10,000 miles, and install a fuel pressure gauge.

I'd say hop on the new 3500. They are great trucks, and are the last of the really good heavy-duty trucks. '03 will be all new, so if you are going to get a new truck, go with the '02. :D

go for it.

Get a 02 now so you can enjoy it when you retire. That is the reason I bought mine and I am only 26. :D Just get a EZ and live happily ever after. Oo.
