after beating a 01 ford powerjoke my 02 ctd completely shut off and will not start, the motor got pretty warm also, it will crank and i have a fass 150 and the vp44 is getting plenty of fuel. but next to nothing for pressure at the injectors. I cant believe the injection pump would go out if I had the fass on it. what else could it be?

2002 ctd, quadzilla adrenaline, afe stage 2 intake, 5" stacks, no silencer ring, heavy duty front bumper,

it doesn't matter if you have a fass or not it matters what the fuel pressure was on the pump before you put the fass on, how do you know you don't have fuel at the injectors. what codes do you have?

I was getting very poor pressure before i put the fass on whcih was about a month ago. I cracked all lines at the injectors and only a couple were girgling a little fuel out. my codes were the 1693 with the code that said "lack of performance due to engine overheating"(dont remember number) i'm thinking maybe TPS?

well most likely the vp44 was going bad before the fass, was reading on a guys fass instructions that he was installing this weekend about the diaphram in the vp44 that will move too far when it doens't have enough lift pump pressure. try cracking the 1,3,4 injector lines at the connector tubes and have somebody start cranking the motor while they are open and tighten the nuts when the fuel starts comming out and see if it will start.

If that doesn't work, get some ether and put just a shot into the intake and see if it will fire, yes you can use ether and it won't blow up as long as you don't use a lot, i have done it on hundreds of trucks and it hasn't blown up once.

As I understand it, the VP has the least amount of fuel bypass (to cool it), at closed throttle.

This is when the unit seezes and the shaft breaks.

I bet the Vp44 is done.

Ditto on the VP... very common time for it to die is when you where pushing it hard and get out of it real quick.....

When running it WOT and drop to idle sometimes the VP-44 will do something like vapor lock. Hit it with some starting fuild when we drag race vp-44 trucks we keep a can in the truck. Also keeps you from walking by to the shop. .

I have done this before. It is pretty hard to do with stock injectors, but is possible. If you are driving very hard (like racing someone), it does exactly what OPolle said.

If you push the throttle very hard, then just pull you foot back out of it, the VP44 will literally have the fuel sucked out of it.

You can try and bleed the injector, #1 and #3 (easiest to get to). See if you can get it started again.

What I do to keep this from happening, is instead of just dropping the accelerator, I will push in the clutch (to the floor), and try to keep up the RPMs for a second so the engine does not lock.
