First off hello, my first post on TDR, I've been on some other Dodge/Cummins sites but not here.

Anyway, I'm replacing the fuel tank on my truck and I found I need the hockey puck fuel screen housing that goes on the bottom of the sending unit/fuel pick up assembly. My original was clogged full of metal and crud. I think these were a 2003-2004 part only and most have probably been replaced by the in tank pump assembly. The dealers will only sell the complete assembly and it is $$$ to buy the whole thing.

I still have mine because I put a FASS on it in early 2005 before Dodge began the in tank pump retrofit. Does anybody know if these screens were used on any other year/model Dodges, or have a source for the screen puck?

Thanks.

Best to "loose" the blasted in tank screen that you have to drop the tank to clean out. Dropping the tank to clean out a screen gets old quick. Use a prefilter or screen before the lift pump or make sure the FASS filters the fuel before it hits the pump. The run without the in tank screen. I have seen debris take out lift pump without any kind of prefilter.

Well the FASS is supposed to run fuel through a water seperator before it hits the pump. But the FASS w/f seperator is more of just a large screen, 140um i think. After seeing all the trash and metal that was too big to get sucked up in the tank, and the fine crud caught by the screens, it just seems like it would be best to get as much help as possible. There are 3 screens in the factory assembly that have probably saved my pump.

The water separators work great as a prefilter for a lift pump. Again if the screen clogs the tank gets dropped. If the water separator clogs you spin on a new one and carry on. Takes a lot more junk to clog the separator then the in tank screens.

One 'bugs in fuel episode' and you will hate tank socks forever!

there several water seperator filter that will fit fass,fs1003,fs1065,fs19596,all are 10 micron or better,i have used these on my fass 150 for several years now.while you have the tank out, install a new pick-up tube or a sump pick-up
