Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) 2003 305/555 turbo on a 95 12v?

I couldn't find any relevant info on the combo in the title so am asking directly.

Engine is in my sig and now has a tick less than 298k. Still runs pretty good. Am trying to get a little more air in for towing. I just disconnected the wastegate line and it appears my stock (and original?) hx35w will do about 33lb if I ask it. I think I've read that 35ish is safe for that turbo. True or not? Opinions as to how the 2003 turbo would act on my slightly warm 95 like spooling from a stop with a load attached? This is being done on a BUDGET, ie; it gets done cheap or not at all, so there won't be any custom aftermarket turbos in the near future. Opinions welcomed. TIA.

Could be done, don't see why it wouldn't work. The downpipe will have to be custom fabbed, and something will need to be rigged on the compressor discharge.

In my opinion, leave your 35 alone and let it run at 33 psi. It'll do fine there.

If you have access to an 03 turbo and can try it for free then go ahead. Don't forget that the turbo mounted on an 03 manifold hangs differently than yours does, so I think it will interfere with something. Take a good look at an 03 or 04 and see how it looks. Shadrach

I have read where the turbo on the Coomon rail engines are not to good on the 12valves. You would have to put a larger exhaust housing on because the Common Rails came with 9 cm, you woud need 12cm or bigger.



I have also read the stock turbo on a 94 to 98 12 valve engine is good up to 30 psi after that it just blows hot air into the cylinder (not saying it won't produce more boost).



I check out turbo suppliers to see what they are running. There are quite few out there now a days.
