2003 - 3500 DRW - 17" wheels

The new dually has 17 " wheels. I can't find any alum. wheels or metal wheelskins (stainless or alum). Anyone know of wheels or skins out there?

Anyone know the bolt pattern dimensions?

As far as I know nobody has anything for 17" wheels. I think this is the first time 17's have been used on a dually as standard equipment.

The bolt pattern is the same as the earlier years so I believe the 19. 5's out there will fit. Near as I can find there are no 17" 8 lug wheels out yet.

ALCOA has 'em! Same styles as the 16" variety. Go to Alcoawheels.com American Racing is the distributor for them out west.

I'm glad you popped in. I looked for 17" dually wheels with no luck. I was going to go with 19. 5 APP's but I really didn't want to go that big. Now I'll look at the Alcoa's.

17" aftermarket dually wheels

I may have lied to you. I tried to buy a set yesterday, all the local retailers, and the local distributor says they aren't being made yet... . Alcoa's website mentions the 17" size, maybe I read it wrong. Sorry for the bum information... .

I checked their website and they said they had sizes from 16 to 22 or 24. I would like to stay with 17's but since I want to lower mine, tire height is an issue. Finding a low profile tire for a 17" wheel with a weight rating for a 1 ton will be hard to find. 225/70-19. 5's aren't exactly low profile, but they are thin enough to tuck into the fenders.

Are there any oversize (taller) tires available for the dualies 17x6 rims?? Or am I stuck with these Goodyear GSAs forever...

My '03 came with Goodyear GSA's too. Worst tire on the planet. Everybody has gravel driveways in this part of the country, and the GSA's are rock-chuckin' and windshield bustin' weapons. May have people on the freeway shooting at me before long. Tried to get dealer to take these things off and put on a set of Michelins, no luck. Tried to buy a set of Michelins at Costco, Discount Tire, was told NOBODY was making a 17" replacement tire YET! Goodyear and Michelin are making 17" tires for DC, but the're not available to the public yet. Good luck if you blow or cut a tire, have to park the truck 'til somebody decides to make a replacement.

Can't even turn the tires/wheels around to get rid of the funky rotating white lettering, the gravel will tear the paint off the side of the truck, maybe take off your elbow if the window is down. Goodyear engineers need to run these tires on THEIR own cars, and see how they like 'em. (Junk) Looks like we're stuck until replacement tires come available, AND I'll be the first guy in line to get rid of these Goodyears.

I believe the dually is a 235-85x17. Tall and skinny for the 6" rims.



This 17" rim deal on the dually really sucks. I'm all for larger rotors, but they should have went straight to the 19. 5" rims which have a zillion tire options readily avaiable.



I can't even imagien how many people are going to be SOL when trying to find a replacement tire in the middle of no where.

The duallies I've seen around here have a 265/70-17

265/70s will not physically fit a DRW - they'd rub against each other because of the sidewall flex. 265s are also illegal on 6-inch rims - no one will pay a claim for running tires that wide on a rim that narrow.



265/70s are standard on 3500 <B>SRW</B> trucks, but it is indeed the 235/80s on DRWs.

Huh. I forgot about the 3500 SRW model. Oh well. I run 285/75/16's on my '97 dually but needed spacers for the rear to do so. Been running them for a couple of years now and ran 255/85's (I think it was) before that since '97. That's the problem with duallys. You're limited on tire and wheel selection. The 17's make it worse. For a little while that is until the aftermarket catches up.

Good luck finding 17 inch Dually wheels. Found one outfit that would modify MY wheels for $125 each. Contacted Alcoa a few weeks ago, no luck and they sounded as if they could care less. I have been trying to find out if Tailor (or Taylor?) Made Wheels is still in business in California. They made steel wheels from scratch for a friend back when 16 inch rims were new and unavailable. Any size/ thickness or offset. Turned out nice. Haven't had any luck finding them. I am sure someone will pick up the ball and run with it. May be next year... . by then I may give up and get 19. 5 s from www.ricksontruck.com

give stockton wheel a look. i haven't delt with them my self but they do custom stuff like that too...

Now that you mentioned them, I believe it was Stockton Wheel that told me they would modify my wheels and they didnt have 17" dually wheels either.
