My wife was driving my 3500 yesterday when all of a sudden she could not turn the wheel right. It would turn left just fine. She turned the truck off a couple of times and finally when backing up, it started working. This has never happened before and would be a bad,bad problem if traveling fast or pulling a camping rig. Has anyone had this problem and know what the problem and solution would be!!!

This happened to me when I hit a coyote on the highway doing 75mph. IT ended up that I bent the steering stablizer when I hit the coyote. Truck would turn left just fine ,but when I tried to turn right the bent rod did not want to go into the cylinder on the stabilizer. Ask her if she ran over something she shouldn't have. :-laf My bet is that you need a new steering stabilizer.

Kqueen, I Have Also Experienced This Problem. . I Was Driving Down The Interstate At A Steady 75mph And I Couldnt Turn The Wheel To The Right Much. . But I Could Turn It To The Left Fine. So I Got Off The Interstate And Than It Like Poped Out Of It And Was Fine. . I Pulled Over And Looked Under The Truck And Everything Looked Fine Nothing Was Bent Or Broke. It Has Only Happen To Me Once But I Would Say Be Careful B/c It Could Be Very Dangerous!! I Think Its Something In The Gearbox Or Power Steering What Do You Guya Think???also Mine Is A 03 2500 Thanks Robert

An easy way to check if it's the steering stabilizer is to take it off and see if it will turn right. It sure sounds like the stabilizer is bound up and does not want to compress. It has to compress for you to be able to turn right.

The '03's had a common with bad steering-gear boxes, I had mine replaced.

It's been a while, but I think that's what it was doing.

I'd start with getting that looked at.
