I know that there is a TSB on the cracked alternator bracket for my 2003 CTD, but can't wait for dealership to do the work.

Is anybody having problems with the OEM replacement bracket, or is any other company making a replacement?

Need to know ASAP - not sure how many more days are on this one. Bracket is cracking from Both sides... ... .....

Thanks - Paul

Dealer replaced mine no questions asked under the TSB. The new bracket is cast rather than folded and is very stout. You could have the original one welded but they may not want to replace it if you do that.

I'm at 39000 miles, I went in for a TSB at 37,000 and they nailed me $100 deductible. I really don't want to waste my time with the dealer again.

Just called Dodge Dealer Parts Department - the new bracket will take $100 out of your pocket. On the phone with Cummins now, not available from them.

Sunday Afternoon Is For Welding. Not getting another cent out of me.

You should be able to weld up the cracks and weld on a gusset. Polish the edges so another crack can't start from the vibrations.

The bracket should be covered under the 100,000 mile warranty, I would think.

dealer did mine on tuesday

38k on the odo

dealer never even asked the mileage

i handed him the tsb on monday, he put the braket on tuesday

when he first looked at mine you couldn't even see any cracks, when he got it off it had 2 3/8 cracks on either side at the narrowest part, they were just covered by the clear coat on the top

i really feel for you guys with ... well ... dishonest lowlife dealers

good luck
