2003 ca.s.o. help with 5er

My vehicle is A 2003 quad cab auto ca. so 2500 2 wheel drive rated to tow 10900#. Also gauges boost-exhaust-transmission and gear vendor. I would like opinons and suggestions on towing a 5er. at a max of 12000#. Not sure of hitch weight yet. Would be either a Nu-Wa or Holiday rambler. Vehicle is paid for with extended 7 years full warranty.



1. CHIP IT?

2. AIR BAGS OR EXTRA LEAF?

3. BUY ANOTHER VEHICLE?

4. OR?

Ideally, get a one-ton truck.

Barring that, chip it and airbag it. Our 5er is about the same weight. PM me if you want a good deal on an edge ez for your truck.

Try towing with it before you do anything. With the GV on there, you might find you have enough gears to deal with the stock power level. You may find it to be fine as-is, of course you might not feel comfortable and decide on a bigger truck. Either way, I'd try it before I made any decisions.

I would try it first as long as your pin weight is not too much over 2000 lbs. I think your truck will do it fine.



Mine is about 2100 lbs loaded and until last spring I pulled it with a 94 2500 2wd. It pulled it fine but was over weight so I let it go and bought the 3500.

I would still rather have the 2500 but with the weight cops lurking around... ... ... .
