2003 diesels

An acquaintance of mine went shopping for a new ram recently, and was explaining to me that the new HO motor was only available with an automatic transmission, and that the HO was not available in Ca this year due to emissions numbers. I am skeptical to say the least, but I have not been reading anything about these new trucks. Does the new SRW option have any special stipulations, ie must have diesel, HO diesel, manual transmission? Any info about this would be really helpful.

The HO engine is available only in 6-spd for the time being. It will be offered in the automatic later on next year. Don't know about California.

HO is only available with 6 speed stick until january-ish when it will also be paired with the new 48RE auto.



HO won't be available in CA until 2004. 5 with the EGR. Neither will the new standard 250hp engine. . CA gets it's own special detuned 235(?)hp engine.



The SRW short box quad cab 3500 is diesel only (normal transmission choices for each diesel engine) - no hemi or V-10. I think the long box quad cab SRW 3500 can be gas or diesel, and so can 2500's of course.
