2003 front hub removal 4x4

I did my 2nd gen 4x4 front hubs and learned a trick on this site. I put a cut down socket extension between the housing and the loosened hub bolt and pushed the hub out using the power steering. Can I do this on my 2003 or do they require a puller. Thanks, Charlie.

Lisle and Snap On both make a hardened steel tool for this job, around $20.
