2003 GMC Envoy wipers Killed by wind?

Driving through a light rain but STRONG cross winds, Right to left. Wipers were parked then started their arc, about halfway through the arc, the wind caught them and slammed them to the end of the arc, and that's where they stopped. After stopping and with less wind, I "nudged them and they SLOWLY parked.

Later, in the garage, I tried them and they will move but they "Growl" at me and will go no faster than the slowest position.

Motor, Control Board or both? Any ideas?

Pull the motor and take a look. Sounds like motor failure to me but who knows with this cheap garbage OEMS are putting into newer cars these days!

I agree, sounds like the gears stripped out or wore out, the wind just happened to be the last straw.

And, it's not actually OE. It's a Cardone rebuild replaced in 2005.

Thanks, guys. I'll just order ANOTHER one.

Does A-1 Cardone still do decent rebuild of components or are they bad as everyone else?
