03 CTD, 240k miles. Original everything. Edge and straight pipe. I was driving along on a long road trip (seattle to Sacramento) noticed power loss when passing on hills. Sometimes like a dead pedal. I had a new fuel filter with my, so I changed it right away. While doing so, I purged the filter bowl too much and let a little air in I think. I filled the bowl with fuel and started it up. All was fine, then started laying again down 30 miles later. 65 mph is fine, pushing 70 is difficult; the bucking and power fade starts again right away. I exited freeway shutoff engine and loosened fuel lines in case I had air, none. Started it again and when I tried to accelerate, the pedal went completely dead then seconds later all power was back. Then the cycle of power fade started all over again! Any ideas? What a pain... . Transfer pump? Lift? Gremlin?

First thing I would try is unplug your edge and try it. I went through two Edge Ez that crapped out on me with similar effects. And one time my CP3 piled up it was low on power even with chip on would only put out 190hp to the wheels 9000 psi is all it would put out. But it could be a lot of other things too map sensor, air intake sensor, TPS, CP3 actuator, fuel pressure sensor and on and on your gonna need a DRB scanner to check it if the unplugging your edge does not work. Good Luck!

First check your fuel pressure between the fuel filter and the CP# high pressure pump. You should have around 16 psi at idle, and still some positive pressure under full power. Your APPS may be bad if you are experiencing an intermittent dead pedal.
