2003 Not starting been flashed 2day

I have a buddy with a 2003 sb 4 door 6 speed 109k miles it has been this for a while now very hard to start took it too dealer 2day and they said it needed to be flashed so they did it and no help at all it has a power pup tuner in it and it does not matter if it is in or not still wont start all of the time no codes at all none it is sitting at walmart right now not starting what could be the problem any ideas??? thanks Tj 573 578 5000 if you would like to call or I will call you. . thanks for the help. .

So it's cranking ok? Sounds like the lift pump went out.

well thats kinda what I thought but he said if he would touch the throttle it would start and die start and die thats it makes no sense at all. .

Could be low rail pressure(open/cracked line/injector, rail relief valve shot), bad fuel control valve on the injection pump, bad lift pump...



Any visible fuel leaks anywhere? Can you hear the lift pump? Any fuel in the oil? Any smoke out the exhaust when cranking?



Most everything else that would cause it not to start will set a code. Cam/crank sensor, harness unplugged, etc.

I had the same problem with my 03. Turns out the cam sensor came loose.

Yes, I did get P0336. I had a hard time starting the truck and once I got it going the only way to keep it running was to keep the revs high. When I pulled the box I noticed that I did not lock the connector in place. After a few cycles the mil went away.

Hard Starting

I have a problem with this also. I have to give it a shot of starting fulid first time of the day! Runs great after that! I think it is the fuel Heater sensor or heater element in the fuel filter housing. I Live in Alaska so the temp now is about 45 deg. Has any one tried to override the sensor and just have the heater element on all the time?

Have you tried pulling codes? You should not be having trouble getting it to fire at 45*s

Put your key in the ignition, turn it to the on position without starting the engine, then turn the key back to the off position. Repeat this three times, on the third time, leave the key in the on position. The codes will flash on the odometer

I pulled codes today and guess what? P0602 and P0700. So now what does that mean?



Also I pulled out my Quad box last night and it started up with just the remote start. It had not done that for awhile. :--) She would cycle 3 times and not start. I would cycle the sequence manually several times and not start. :{ Had to give it a shot of wiskey (either) to get her to start. What does these codes mean and what should I do next. Maybe send the box to quadzilla for reflashing or something? :-{}

P-0602 Control Module Programming Error





The 602 is from the quad. It is a pretty generic code that does not hurt anything. The box probably needs to be checked by quad

I was useing either to But found if I step on the throttle t seems to start better. I know this sonds wierd but it sems to work. I have had it 3 times to the dealer. I have 62 K miles. I took out my quad box prior to going to the dealeer. I had in the past used a Bully Dog pup but I think it shows up and leaves a code for them. I only had my Bully dog monitor in and they said it was changing the shift points so they disconnected it? I have a feeling that the man doing the work does nok know about diesels! LOL Just my luck. But try the either and then try the steping on the throttle. I know the fuelinjestion is suppose to work and I am not sure why but my beast was a real pain to start in 35 to 40 deg weather. I pult it in with a timer for 1 hour befdor I go to work when it is down to 30deg and colder. It started lastyear at 20 below but it took a while to warm up LOL

Take all of your fuel lines off and tighten up the injector tubes should fix your problem. .

How can I find what codes mean what. I have done some things that I am sure have set codes but the check engine light is not on but I am rather curious just to see what might show up.
