My Father is having a bit of trouble with his 2003 CR Truck with the manual trans and 165K on the ODO. Occasionally he gets a ruff idle that lasts for a bit then goes away, a couple of times it has even stalled while in neutral. His truck is completely stock except for a TST box which is ALWAYS on setting 1  (he loves the mileage).

The really weird part is that when the ruff idle condition occurs no codes are set buy the computer?

Initially we suspected a fuel delivery problem due to the number of miles on the factory lift pump. He R&R'ed the lift pump but the problem is still there.

I'm thinking it may be an electrical problem but don't have a clue on where to start looking?

Any ideas from the mighty TDR collective?

I've had a rough idle a couple of times... cleared up both times with a fuel filter change and a bottle of Sea Foam filling the filter housing. I suspect a little contamination on one or more injectors.

I heard good things of Sea Foam but don't know how it works. What's the benefit of putting it in with the filter? No side effect?

FCA = Fuel Control Actuator... it mounts on the CP3 and controls the amount of fuel the rail gets...

If you do a search on my name and FCA, you should find a Cummins part number that cost me $95.

Thanks for your input steved :D

We will try the replacing the FCA and see if it cures the problem.

I'm going to qualify this and say that searching my name and FCA will get the number quickly... someone else did all the work and provided me the information... gotta give credit where credit is due!!

As for 24k, are you sure its that and not the actually pressure gauge or sending unit???
