Once the screw(s) are removed you need a pry bar or flathead to "pop" the CCV off of the valve cover from where it seals to the VC.
There is a large and thick O-ring that seals the CCV to the valve cover and it tends to dry out, flatten out and then eventually leak.
On early 3rd get trucks, the CCV itself is nothing more then a coarse 3m type sponge filter inside also with a few baffle that direct wet oil back to the block and fumes to the drain tube. While it is a fairly inexpensive part, as opposed to the CCV on later model trucks, it can in fact be cleaned by opening it up and reinstalling it with a new O-ring, in addition to cutting back the drain hoses and reattaching them with a zip tie to help seal them again. The hose connections also tend to dry out and leak over time, but cutting them back to fresh rubber and using a zip tie solvers the problem for another long interval.
